Deusto has pioneered the training of business leaders at its two previous faculty departments: La Comercial, part of the Bilbao campus since 1916; and ESTE, created in 1956 at the San Sebastian campus.

A group of alumni created this Foundation in 1982 in order to provide “special support for La Comercial”. The Foundation was named after Father Bernaola who was the Dean of Studies at this centre for 34 years.
